Regional Sales Manager – South Dakota/North Dakota

The Legend Seeds organization currently employs over 82 talented team members across eight different sight locations and is looking for a growth-focused, energetic, and results-driven Regional Sales Manager to lead and develop the South Dakota and North Dakota region. This individual must possess superior relationship building skills and key sales techniques that will be a critical asset to Legend and our continued success.

The Regional Sales Manager works closely with the Legend Sales Lead and serves as a leader for the South Dakota region, managing the Legend Account Managers, Sales Agronomists, and key strategic accounts. This position helps ensure business development, growth, and sales success through the marketing, selling, and brand awareness of all products sold by Legend Seeds in the assigned trade area. The Regional Sales Manager position plays an integral role in building and engaging in the company’s strategies that will promote the three pillars of Legend GROWTH, PROFITABILITY, and CULTURE.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop an annual Business Plan for your sales region that sets the course for growth, personnel development, and profitability.  This should be a road map to exceeding your goals. It should include tracking metrics, tactics, and timing around strategic goals.
  • Manage and track use of the team’s discretionary funds and seed allocation to ensure profitability and growth are kept at the forefront of the decision-making process.
  • Partner with strategic dealers to build strong, long-term relationships with these top key accounts in the defined team region.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Legend Account Manager’s (LAM) to maximize Legend’s brand in the assigned sales region.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of Legend’s marketing initiatives at all sales levels.
  • Manage and track the team and individual LAM budgets.
  • Develop and ensure execution of annual performance review, position agreement and business plans for each member of your team.
  • Collaborate with our Product Manager and Agronomy team to bring beneficial training and knowledge to all parts of your team.
  • Identify and facilitate team coaching/training. 
  • Have a mindset on decisions and communications that reflects, is it good for Legend, my team and myself.
  • Serve as an integral part of the Leadership Team.
  • Build relationships with all other Legend Departments to ensure the sales team follows necessary procedures in all areas of operations, customer service and administrative functions.
  • Work with assigned sales team to ensure dealers and customers accounts are managed and settled in a timely manner.
  • Utilize efficient inventory management and product distribution processes within the team.
  • Ensure that company assets are well cared for and properly maintained.
  • Ensure team performs job related tasks in a safe manner.

  • Bachelor's degree and/or experience in agriculture or agriculture sales
  • Possess a passion for developing, mentoring, and supporting the growth of others
  • Proven record in sales and achieving sales goals
  • 2+ years of previous experience managing and directing a sales team
  • Valid driver's license

Work Environment

  •  This job operates in a remote office environment located within Legend Seeds footprint.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position, typical hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional earlier start times, evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


  • 70% travel is expected for this position.
