Distribution Manager - De Smet, SD

Job Responsibilities:

• Coordinate all aspects of the delivery process including transfers, deliveries and returns in the assigned territory.

• Work with dealers to create a distribution plan and schedule.

• Work with our processors to transfer products out of their facility.

• Ensure that loads are legal weight and trucks are used efficiently.

• Utilize company assets to generate revenue.

• Handle inbound and outbound loads at the facility.

• Ensure that company assets are well-cared for and properly maintained.

• Ensure team performs job related tasks in a safe manner.

The Legend Seeds organization currently employs over 80 talented team members in the Midwest and is looking for a growth-focused, energetic, and results-driven Distribution Manager to get finished products to our customers timely and efficiently. 

The Distribution Manager works closely with the Legend Account Managers (LAMs) to support our dealer network and help us achieve our Vision of “we help our dealers help their growers”. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.  Great customer service and the ability to make decisions quickly and accurately are a must. This position ensures company policies and procedures are being adhered to and safety is always on top of your mind. This position will have a Legend mindset of is it good for Legend, my team and myself when making all decisions and communication to this role.  This position will promote the three pillars of Legend GROWTH, PROFITABILITY, and CULTURE.

Best Candidate will have:

• 2+ years of experience in trucking, distribution, supply chain management, customer service.
• Currently possess state certified applicator license or ability to obtain in 3 months.
• Strong computer skills.
• Working knowledge of farming and crop production practices.
• Demonstrated self-discipline, ability to function effectively without direct supervision, and ability to work effectively with others.
• Demonstrated ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present technical information.
• Excellent time management skills
• Valid driver’s license
• Authorized to work in the United States

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Standing and lifting is required. This would require bending and the ability to lift to 60 pounds as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, typical hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional earlier start times, evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

10% travel is expected for this position.  During peak times 15% travel is required.
