The Legend Seeds organization currently employs over 82 talented team members in the Midwest and is looking for a growth-focused, energetic, and results-driven Legend Sales Agronomist (LSA) to help develop and maintain our sales area in the assigned territory. This individual must possess a solid agronomy background and be able to work as a team and independently to help support Legend Seeds and our network of dealers.

The LSA works closely with the Legend Sales Lead and Legend Account Managers to support our dealer network and help us achieve our Vision of “we help our dealers help their growers”. This position helps ensure business development, growth, and sales success through the marketing, selling, and brand awareness of all products sold by Legend Seeds in the assigned trade area. The LSA role plays an integral role in building and engaging in the company’s strategies that will promote the three pillars of Legend GROWTH, PROFITABILITY, and CULTURE.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as an Agronomist in our De Smet and surrounding county territory.

  • Work with Legend staff and dealers on agronomy issues, complaints, and recommendations.

  • Develop an agronomy training platform to bring information to dealers and staff.

  •  Responsible for product evaluation and new product advancements.

  • Support the Legend Account Managers in building and developing our dealers and growers.

  • Develop brand promotion of products through testing, signage, harvest, field days, etc.

  • Assist in developing an annual Crop Plan with Legend Account Managers.

  • Contribute timely agronomic and production information to dealers and customers to enhance Legends value.

  • Ensure that company assets are well cared for and properly maintained.

  • Ensure team performs job related tasks in a safe manner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Weed Science, Entomology, Soil Science, Plant Pathology or a closely related field and at least 2-3 years of experience in a closely related role.
  • Currently possess state certified applicator license or ability to obtain in 3 months.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong knowledge of farming and crop production practices.
  • Knowledge of basic farm equipment operation.
  • Aptitude to learn precision agriculture technology.
  • Demonstrated self-discipline, ability to function effectively without direct supervision, and ability to work effectively with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present technical information.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership to customers and Legend staff.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Work Environment

  •  This job operates in a remote office environment located within Legend Seeds footprint.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position, typical hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional earlier start times, evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

  • 70% travel is expected for this position. 90% during peak times is required.
